Los Angeles - Oscar nominated singer-songwriter Elliott Smith has died in an apparent suicide. He was 34. His live-in-girlfriend found his body at their Los Angeles home. A coroner’s spokeswoman says he had a single stab wound to the chest. Smith had drug and alcohol problems throughout his career. He was nominated for an Oscar for the song “Miss Misery” that was featured in the movie “Good Will Hunting.” But the Oscar went to Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic.”
