OneRepublic cover Adele during Radio 1's Live Lounge

BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge month kicked off in a perfect manner today. Not content with an exclusive session live from Justin Bieber’s LA home, Radio 1 also delivered a Live Lounge from their London studios by none other than OneRepublic!

The five-piece group performed three songs for the listeners, including a cover of Adele’s ‘Send My Love’ (To Your New Lover). Many would consider an Adele song a very brave (or stupid) choice of cover. However, considering front man Ryan Tedder worked on her albums 25 and 21 (of which he won a Grammy for), we think that OneRepublic are more than capable of delivering a special version of the song.

Boy, did they prove us right! Tedder’s falsetto vocals suited the song perfectly, and we’re pretty sure that Adele would have loved the band’s acoustic version. In fact, Tedder told Radio 1 that he would text the songstress about the cover later on!

During their session, OneRepublic also performed their brand new single ‘Kids’. Additionally, they revisited classic territory by delivering a performance of their smash hit ‘Counting Stars’.

Radio 1 will be delivering another two exciting Live Lounges tomorrow from Usher and Biffy Clyro!
